You are cordially invited to the workshop on “Social Media, Regulation and Freedom of Expression: A comparative perspective” organized by the Department of Journalism at the Hong Kong Baptist University (Hong Kong), and Centre for Journalism Studies at the Tsinghua University (Beijing, China), with the support of the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange (Taiwan).

The workshop will address the key issue of the advent of social media for media policy and legal regulatory issues, particularly with regard to the following topics:

  • Balancing between freedom of expression and social media regulation
  • Social media access and service provision
  • Social media content
  • Defamation, privacy and data protection
  • Impacts of social media on the economics of information
  • Role of social media in a transitional society
