Chris Yeung is News Director of the Hong Kong Economic Journal's EJ Insight, an English China business website. He joined the newspaper in August 2009.
Yeung joined the SCMP in 1984 after graduating from the Hong Kong Baptist College (now Hong Kong Baptist University), majoring in English journalism. He completed a Master of Arts (International Relations) in Australian National University in 1993. Yeung was a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution's Centre for Northeast Asian Policy Studies in Washington between 2000 and 2001.
Yeung became political editor of the SCMP in 1994, associate editor in 1999 and took up the position of Editor-at-large in 2002 before he left the newspaper in July 2009. Yeung writes regularly on a wide range of political, social policy and mainland-Hong Kong issues. He is one of the contributors to The First Tung Chee-hwa Administration published by the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002.
